8,490 tonnes of food waste this Easter

A staggering 8,490 tonnes of food is destined to go to waste this Easter according to the research. This includes an estimated 6.8m hot cross buns weighing in at 550 tonnes and costing £2.6m.

Unnecessary Easter food waste contributes to the 25 million tonnes of carbon emissions associated with food waste in the UK – the same as produced by 10 million cars.

I don't think I will have any problems with left over hot cross buns, my only worry is Morrisons will run out of their Lemon Drizzle ones, gone through two packs in a week, and got a third to get through... they will be gone by tomorrow, may need more 😁

Cornflakes coated chicken Inspired by Nigella  In a bowl mix together the following Mustard (of your choice - dijon, whole grain or French) Two cloves of garlic (grated) Egg (to combine) mix well until all ingredients are combined. To this add 2 chicken breast fillets flattened into escallops, let them bathe for a while, while you prepare the coating. In another dish pour some cornflakes , massage them into crumbs, add some paprika or cayenne pepper ( depending on your taste ), mix together. Take the chicken out of your mustard mixture and coat in the cornflakes, make sure you coat well. Fry in a pan until the chicken is cooked. Serve with a nice salad. Christmas 2023 and into 2024

  I'm not feeling like Christmas right now. My Dad's woman friend, Tel, passed away, she was found by Police yesterday, after Dad hadn't heard from her in a few days. I'm feeling less than perfect. He's not told my sister yet, but she couldn't care less! She's said as much in an email basically washing her hands of it all and has more or less told me to take sides. Now I'm going to have to confront Dad about his house, there's no way I can set foot in there as the smell makes me want to throw up, didn't want to do that til new year. Oh what a Christmas this will be, damn it. I feel like I'm trapped between two dead end roads with no right of way. My downstairs neighbour said if my sister isn't talking to him she won't know I've been there. I can see where she is coming from though. Cons proposals for PIP Sunak and his government need flogging - end of! Here are his government's proposals relating to PIP. Awards for claimants with physical health conditions and those with mental health issues were called into question by Sunak. He argued that whilst some people need money for aids such as handrails or stairlifts “Often they’re already available at low cost, or free from the NHS or Local Authorities.
